Across ten weeks, you'll review short materials before class, then use class time to speak, practice, ask questions, and apply what you're learning.
Recognize familiar Spanish words and expressions.
Use Spanish-English similarities and essential phrases to understand and communicate more from the start.
Introduce yourself more confidently.
Share basic information about yourself while improving your pronunciation and comfort with Spanish sounds.
Handle a simple shopping interaction.
Talk about everyday items and make basic choices while shopping for souvenirs or other familiar things.
Talk about countries and where people are from.
Identify places, nationalities, and basic cultural connections in conversation.
Talk about what you and other people do.
Build more complete present-tense sentences about everyday activities and routines.

Keep a conversation moving by asking for the information you need and responding more completely.

Who this course is for
Spanish for Advanced Beginners is for adults who already know some Spanish basics and want to turn them into more complete, useful conversation. If greetings, simple introductions, familiar vocabulary, and some present-tense Spanish feel at least partly familiar, this course may be the right fit.

How many students are in a class?
Group classes typically cap at 10 students, with up to 5 additional priority seats available for Roadmap students. Class length depends on enrollment: sessions are 2 hours with 4 or more students, 90 minutes with 2 to 3 students, and 60 minutes with 1 student.
Is Spanish for Advanced Beginners online or in person?
Both. Some sections meet in person in Falls Church, Virginia, and others meet live online over Zoom. Each section has one format, so choose the time and setting that work best for you.
What if I miss a class?

Do I need the Level Placement Test?
If you're unsure whether Advanced Beginners is the right fit, take the Level Placement Test. If you're brand new to Spanish, Spanish for True Beginners may be a better place to start.
What is your refund policy?
Withdraw at least 7 days before your course begins and you'll receive a full course credit, valid for 365 days. We don't offer cash refunds for withdrawals. If Work-Life Spanish cancels your course, you'll receive an alternative option or a full refund.
