Why Work-Life Spanish

A school that gets adults speaking

Arlington learners have plenty of ways to study Spanish, and we think the difference is in the speaking. For more than a decade, we have helped busy adults cross the gap between studying Spanish and actually speaking it. We built our own curriculum because off-the-shelf programs kept failing adult learners, and every teacher is evaluated each semester against a documented standard. Our founder holds a Master's from the University of Salamanca, the oldest university in the Spanish-speaking world.

I've taken two courses at Work-Life Spanish and I've already noticed an improvement in my ability to comprehend written and spoken Spanish. Most importantly in class you practice speaking Spanish with your classmates. This experience is not something that you can get when learning via an app like Babbel. During a recent trip to Peru I noticed that I could understand and speak with native speakers on a variety of basic subjects (slowly of course). The teachers are all friendly and encouraging to learners of all levels. They also have a different club you can join each week for additional practice.

Good to Know

Questions students ask

Do you have a Spanish school in Arlington?

Our in-person classes are all at our Falls Church studio, minutes from Arlington at 7389 US-29, Ste 102, with free parking on site. If you would rather not travel, you can take the same classes live online over Zoom.

Do you teach both adults and kids?

Yes. We offer small-group conversational classes for adults from beginner to advanced, and private one-on-one lessons for children tailored to their age and level. Both are available in person or online.

Are classes online or in person?

You choose. We run separate in-person classes at our Falls Church studio and separate live online classes over Zoom, both following the same curriculum with the same trained teachers. You can take some courses in person and others online, whichever fits.

I have studied before but feel stuck. Where do I start?

Start with the Level Placement Test. It pinpoints your level on the A1 to C1 scale in a few minutes, so we place you in the right class instead of starting you over from scratch.

How long does it take to learn Spanish?

Most adults move through a full CEFR level in about a year with us. Our Roadmap gives you a clear, year-long plan so progress is steady instead of stalling, the way it does with apps and one-off classes.
