By the end of this course
Each of the ten weeks takes one way of talking about what hasn't happened yet, and makes it usable. You'll review short materials before class, then spend class time predicting, speculating, and second-guessing out loud, in Spanish.
Say what you're going to do.
Use ir + a to talk about plans, the way Spanish speakers actually do in conversation.
Make a real prediction.
Conjugate the future tense, including the irregulars, and use it to say what will happen.
Describe what will be going on.
Use the future progressive to put an action in motion at a point still ahead of you.
Say what will already be done.
Use the future perfect to talk about what will have happened by a given moment.
Speculate in Spanish.
Use the future of probability to guess out loud, a structure English has no direct equivalent for.
Talk about what you would do.
Conjugate the conditional and use it to describe hypotheticals, wishes, and polite requests.
Say what could have been.
Use the conditional perfect to talk about the outcome that never happened.
Choose between future and conditional.
Know which one a sentence needs, and hear the difference when a native speaker uses it.
Handle the fine distinctions.
Work through the places the two tenses overlap and where changing one changes your meaning.
Put it all together.
Debate the technology of the future using every structure in the course, unprompted.

How many students are in a class?
Group classes typically cap at 10 students, with up to 5 additional priority seats available for Roadmap students. Class length depends on enrollment: sessions are 2 hours with 4 or more students, 90 minutes with 2 to 3 students, and 60 minutes with 1 student.
Is Exploring the Future online or in person?
Both, depending on the term. This course runs live online over Zoom in Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027, and in person in Falls Church, Virginia in Winter 2027 and Summer 2027. Each section has one format, so choose the time and setting that work best for you.
What if I miss a class?
Missing a class doesn't mean falling behind. You'll have access to your course materials so you can stay on track, and you can book a private tutoring session if you'd like one-on-one help with anything you missed.
Do I need the Level Placement Test?
If you're unsure whether Exploring the Future is the right fit, take the Level Placement Test. If you haven't completed A2, one of our A2 courses may be a better place to start.
Do I have to take all four B1 courses?
No. You can take Exploring the Future on its own, in any order. The B1 Exit Exam opens once you have completed all four B1 courses, and the A2 Roadmap bundles them at a lower rate, but each course stands on its own.
What is your refund policy?
Withdraw at least 7 days before your course begins and you'll receive a full course credit, valid for 365 days. We don't offer cash refunds for withdrawals. If Work-Life Spanish cancels your course, you'll receive an alternative option or a full refund.
