Spend your summer in Granada. In Spanish.
A real Granada summer camp for children aged 5 to 12, in the valley of the Río Darro. Nature, animals, art, and Spanish all day long. Your family picks the weeks. We handle the rest.
Free, and it takes two minutes.
13 August
the whole summer
per child, per week
This one is your trip, not ours
Perú, Uruguay and Costa Rica are WLS group trips that Tara leads. Granada is different, and that is deliberate.
There is no departure date, no group of twelve, and no itinerary we hand you. You choose your own weeks, you travel as your own family, and you come and go when it suits your summer. Some families will come for one week. Some will come for four. Some will bring the grandparents.
What we do is the part that stops most families before they start. We have found the people in Granada we trust, worked out which pieces fit together and which do not, and negotiated a rate for our families that is not available anywhere else. Then we tell you exactly what to book, and you book it directly.
Work-Life Spanish never takes your money for anything in Granada, and never becomes your travel agent. You pay each provider directly. We make sure you are booking the right things, in the right weeks, at the right price, and that your family lands with enough Spanish to enjoy it.
For the Kids
A real Granada summer camp. Animals, the river, an art cave, and Spanish all day without a classroom.
For the Adults
Your day is yours from 9:00 to 15:30. Study Spanish, work, or wander the Albaicín. All three are allowed.
Your Dates
Pick your own weeks between late June and mid August. One week or a whole month, whatever your summer allows.
Study Spanish
Prepare yourselves ahead of time with Spanish classes at Work-Life Spanish, so you can speak with the locals when you arrive.
Most families never do this, because the planning defeats them. Which camp, which weeks, where to stay, how the schedules fit together, whether any of it is actually any good. That is the part we have already done.
What your children actually do
They feed the donkeys, the goats, the chickens and the rabbits, and they learn each animal's name and personality. They pick strawberries, nuts and berries out of the orchard and eat them. They make things in a cave that has been turned into an art studio, with printing, drawing, painting, ceramics and cyanotype. They spend the afternoon by the river. They come home tired, with something they made, and usually with soil on their clothes.
Spanish is not a lesson here. It runs through the whole day, in the games, the conversations, the stories, and the arguments over who gets to feed which animal. Children who already speak Spanish get to use it somewhere completely new. Children who are just starting pick it up the way children actually pick up a language, which is by needing it.
And there are no screens. That turns out to be most of the point. Time to move, make things, explore, get their hands dirty, and be outside with other children.
A valley below the Alhambra
Casa Valparaíso sits in the valley of the Río Darro, at the far end of Sacromonte. Granada gets very hot in July. The valley does not, because of the large trees, the shade, and the river running through it.
Pickup is at 9:00 from Placeta del Peso de la Harina in the Albaicín, and transport is included if you need it. That matters more than it sounds. It means you can stay in the Albaicín, walk your child to the pickup point in the morning, and have your own day in the city until 15:30.
9:00 to 15:30
Transport included
What is included
- The full Monday to Friday programme, 9:00 to 15:30
- All art and activity materials
- Fresh fruit and water through the day
- Transport from the Albaicín pickup point if you need it
- Qualified staff, including a pedagogue, an artist, a chef and a forest school teacher
And then there is your summer
This is a family trip, not a drop-off. While the children are in the valley, Granada is yours from nine until half past three.
Some parents will spend those hours studying Spanish. Some will work, because the time difference means a European morning is still the middle of the night at home. Some will walk the Albaicín, climb to the Alhambra, sit in a plaza, and do nothing at all that could be called productive.
Tell us which of those you want on the questionnaire and we will build the week around it, including finding Spanish classes for the adults that fit the camp hours and the pickup point. Evenings and weekends are the whole family again.
€299 a week now. €359 from 1 January.
Casa Valparaíso has created an Early Bird rate for Work-Life Spanish families. To get it, your registration and payment need to be complete by 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027 the regular rate applies.
Four weeks for two children costs €480 less if you register before the end of December.

Before you worry about paying in December for a July camp
You can cancel up to 28 February 2027 and get 100 percent of it back. After that date the camp fee is non-refundable. You can also change which weeks you have booked at any time, free of charge, as long as there is space in the week you want. And if the camp ever has to cancel a week, you are refunded in full.
Casa Valparaíso's own terms apply to your booking. These are theirs, not ours, and they will confirm them with you at registration.
Finding a camp is the easy part
Getting a family from Virginia to a valley in Sacromonte, ready, is the part nobody helps with.
- Spanish for your kids before you go. The words they will actually need on day one at camp, built for their age, not a workbook.
- Spanish for you. A short, practical Granada set for the adults. Ordering, asking, getting around, being understood.
- A Granada family guide. Neighbourhoods, getting around, what to do with the afternoons, and what nobody tells you.
- Help fitting the week together. Tell us if the adults want Spanish classes while the children are at camp, and we will work out what fits with the camp hours and the pickup point.
- A group session before you travel. Live with Tara, together with the other families going the same summer.
- The Early Bird rate. €299 a week instead of €359, if you register before 31 December.
