Club Description
The Short Film Club is a conversation-based club designed to help Spanish learners strengthen listening comprehension, expand vocabulary, and build confidence speaking Spanish through the art of film. Each session centers around a Spanish-language short film, offering students an engaging and meaningful way to explore language, culture, and real-world themes.
Through guided discussion, debate, and reflection, students practice expressing opinions, reacting to complex ideas, and using Spanish naturally across a wide range of topics and tenses. The club is open to learners from A2 through C2, with questions and activities structured to support multiple proficiency levels in the same session. This makes the Short Film Club ideal for students who want to think critically, speak more fluidly, and experience authentic Spanish beyond the textbook.

Weekly Topics
Each week, students watch a short film in Spanish prior to class and come prepared to discuss its themes, characters, and language. Sessions focus on both cultural topics and key grammatical structures, allowing students to reinforce what they’ve learned in class while practicing spontaneous conversation.
Weekly topics throughout the year include themes such as:
Each session also highlights specific grammar points in context, such as past tenses, the subjunctive, conditionals, imperatives, discourse markers, and verbal periphrases, depending on the film. This approach allows students to see grammar in action, rather than studying it in isolation.
A detailed viewing calendar with assigned films and themes is provided to students in advance, and session notes are shared in the Club OneNote after each meeting for continued review and practice .
