Course Description
This is a 20-hour advanced-level course designed for students who want to sound more natural, expressive, and culturally fluent in Spanish. The course focuses on high-frequency idiomatic expressions used across the Spanish-speaking world, helping learners move beyond literal language and into authentic, nuanced communication.
Through real-life dialogues, audio recordings, news articles, music, film, and cultural texts, students will explore how idiomatic language functions in everyday speech, media, and literature. Each unit centers on a core expression and examines its meaning, origin, regional variation, and pragmatic use in different social contexts.
Emphasis is placed on listening comprehension, interpretation of authentic texts, and spontaneous oral production. Grammar is reviewed only as needed and always in context, with the primary goal of strengthening fluency, precision, and expressive range.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
✔ Understand and interpret common and advanced Spanish idioms in spoken and written contexts
✔ Use idiomatic expressions naturally and appropriately in conversation and discussion
✔ Recognize cultural, regional, and historical nuances behind idiomatic language
✔ Analyze authentic texts (articles, dialogues, songs, and media) with greater depth and confidence
✔ Express opinions, emotions, and complex ideas with greater precision and stylistic range
✔ Participate fluently in debates and discussions using culturally appropriate language
✔ Improve listening comprehension of native-level speech across different accents and registers

Terms & Enrollment Policies
By enrolling in this course, you agree to the terms of our enrollment policy:
- Adult courses with fewer than four students may be reduced in hours:
- 10 total hours for 1 student
- 15 total hours for 2–3 students
- 20 total hours for 4 or more students
- Students are eligible for a course credit valid for 365 days for the full amount they paid for the course.
This credit is available only to students who withdraw at least 7 days prior to the start of the class.
We are unable to provide cash refunds for student withdrawals. - Once a course has started, same-semester transfers can only be made if the student is in the wrong level.
Same-level transfers, course credits, or refunds will not be allowed once the course has begun.
