Spanish Literature (B2-C1)
Spanish Literature is a 20-hour advanced-level reading and discussion course designed for students who want to immerse themselves in the rich literary traditions of Latin America while refining their vocabulary, analytical skills, and oral fluency.
Through poems, short stories, and essays by some of the most renowned Hispano-American authors, students will explore major themes in Latin American literature, history, and philosophy. Emphasis is placed on close reading, discussion, and literary analysis, with a focus on understanding tone, diction, imagery, and cultural context.
While grammar is not the primary focus, students should have a strong foundation in Spanish tenses and structures, as the course challenges them to engage with complex texts and express sophisticated ideas in Spanish.
➡️ Interpret and analyze complex literary texts, including short stories, poetry, and essays
➡️ Engage in meaningful discussions about literature’s connection to history, politics, and society
➡️ Use advanced literary vocabulary to express nuanced ideas in speech and writing
➡️ Recognize regional linguistic variations and idiomatic expressions in Latin American Spanish
➡️ Deliver structured presentations summarizing and analyzing literary works
➡️ Write creatively and critically in Spanish, producing well-structured texts
➡️ Strengthen fluency and spontaneous expression through oral debates and discussions
