1. CONFIRM YOUR STARTING LEVEL
Any student not starting at the A1 level is required to take our Level Placement Test to confirm their starting level. Once your level is determined, you can start taking the courses within your level in any order. The Work-Life Spanish approach to Spanish language learning is loosely based on the European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages system which organizes language proficiency into six levels:

- A: A1 Beginner & A2 Elementary
- B: B1 Intermediate & B2 Upper Intermediate
- C: C1 Advanced & C2 Proficient
2. CHOOSE YOUR BASE APPROACH
Work-Life Spanish offers a mix and match approach to learning Spanish. For optimal results, we recommend that students first choose a base approach.

- 20-hour group courses are best for students who enjoy studying in groups, don't require a flexible schedule, are looking for a lower hourly rate and enjoy a structured program.
- Private tutoring is best for students who are studying for a specific exam or deadline, require a flexible schedule, prefer personalized approach and would like to learn at their pace.
3. INCORPORATE CLUB EVENTS
Once the based approach is selected, we highly recommend that students incorporate weekly club events into their study plan. Our clubs are open to students of all levels from A2 - C1 and focus on increasing cultural awareness, listening, speaking, and reading skills through the use of authentic and culturally-rich materials.

4. FOLLOW THE PROGRAM
Students who choose 20-hour group courses as their base approach must take each course within their level. These courses can be taken either online or in-person and in any order. We create our materials in-house and update them regularly to ensure the highest standards and a unique study plan that can't be found anywhere else!
Students enrolled in private tutoring classes are highly encouraged to work with their tutor to create a study plan that incorporates the functions and grammar constructs within their current level before moving onto materials from the next level.

5. TAKE THE LEVEL EXIT TEST
Once a student has completed each course within their current level, they should take the Level Exit Test to ensure they have achieved the necessary skills to graduate level and move up in the program. Only students who have taken each course within their level, or have reviewed each topic within their level with their tutor will be eligible to take the exam.

6. RECEIVE A DIGITAL BADGE & ADVANCE
Students who pass the Level Exit Test for their level will receive a Digital Badge to demonstrate that they have achieved Spanish proficiency at that level. This badge can proudly be displayed on social media accounts, used as a certificate of level completion and added to resumes. Students will then be able to proceed into the next level and become closer to Spanish language fluency! Students who do not pass the Level Exit Test can retake the group courses they scored lowest in or work with a private tutor to create a customized plan to build the skills they have not yet mastered.

When I started with WLS I was at the A2 level, but thanks to the magnificent teachers and super accessible ways to learn, I'm studying at the C1 level now and see progress everyday. The Book Club meetings with Susana have really been great. It's been fun to read a different story by a well-known Spanish writer each week and talk to about it with others. I now feel comfortable enough speaking Spanish during my meetings and can send all my emails in Spanish.... I'll continue taking courses at Work-Life Spanish for the foreseeable future. I started at the lowest level, level A. And I can proudly say that about a year later I'm going to start the B level! Of course, it requires personal effort, but the instructors are there to help you. I've been taught by at least six professors who bring different perspectives about the language and culture. They are proficient teachers & will guide you towards your goals. The courses are taught by knowledgeable instructors in a relaxed atmosphere. WLS has been one of the best decisions I've made and I'm sure it will be one of yours! Overall, the course was excellent, the instructor was excellent, it really accomplished what I wanted to do in terms of language development. It's a world-class curriculum with teachers who are super friendly & knowledgeable. It's a wonderful time learning Spanish with people who want to be there just like you! |
