Ten days of Spanish immersion, ancient cultures, high-altitude adventure, and the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, all in a small, supportive group.
WLS trips aren't bucket-list checklists or guided sightseeing tours. They're carefully crafted journeys where Spanish, adventure, wellness, and community come together to create something deeper than vacation.
Most group trips compress a country into a list of sites and a series of bus rides. Ours don't work that way. We slow down so the place can teach us. We use Spanish in real situations, every day, with real people. We hike, eat locally sourced food, practice yoga where it makes sense, and make space for the kind of unhurried conversation that only happens when you're with the same small group for ten days.
By the end of every WLS trip, our travelers have stopped wondering whether they could really do this. They've done it. They've spoken Spanish in a country that lives in Spanish, hiked through landscapes most travelers only see from windows, eaten food cooked by hands they shook, and come home with a small group of people who are now part of their life.
That's the WLS promise. Whatever the destination, whatever the year, that's what we build for.
WLS immersion trips aren't about checking off tourist sites. They're about deep cultural connection, meaningful Spanish practice, and the kind of personal transformation that happens when you step away from your routine and into a different way of living.
All activities in Spanish with bilingual support. Never a structured class environment.
Small groups of 12 or less who meet monthly before the trip, so you'll travel with friends, not strangers.
Yoga, mindfulness, nature, and locally-sourced food integrated throughout.
Hiking, cultural exploration, and stepping out of comfort zones at every level.
Most group trips throw strangers together at the airport and call it a tour.
Ours don't work that way.
From the moment you sign up, you become part of a small, intentional community that meets together regularly in the months leading up to departure, in person and online.
In-person gatherings the moment you sign up, so you're already friends long before we fly.
Monthly weekend hikes throughout the DC metro area, building fitness and friendships at the same time.
Pre-trip Spanish prep tailored to your destination, so you arrive ready to use the language.
Most travelers come solo, but by the time we land, the community has become the trip.
"I was nervous when I signed up because I didn't know anybody on the trip, but I felt very welcomed. We had the opportunity to meet people from different cultures and talk more about life in Costa Rica."
Nine days exploring Uruguay's vibrant capital, dramatic coastline, world-class Tannat wine country, and the rolling Sierras de Minas. Travelers experienced the world's longest Carnival celebration, an authentic tango dinner show, walking tours through UNESCO-listed Colonia del Sacramento, private vineyard tastings, and adventure activities in the countryside, all while practicing Spanish in real-world contexts each day.
"This is my second WLS trip. I went to Costa Rica last year, Uruguay this year, and this has been an amazing experience. We have experienced the culture of Uruguay, someplace that I never thought that I would visit, but it's been amazing."
"It's a great opportunity to learn Spanish, but also to see where your Spanish level is and to push yourself a little bit further and to experience another culture."
Our inaugural immersion retreat blended Spanish learning with wellness and rainforest adventure at Hacienda Barú, an ecolodge surrounded by tropical wildlife. Travelers practiced Spanish through daily yoga, zip-lining, snorkeling near Isla del Caño, swimming under Nauyaca Falls, jungle night walks, traditional cooking classes, a visit to the Boruca Indigenous community, and salsa dancing. Nine days of language learning rooted in nature, culture, and connection.
"I just finished the inaugural Work-Life Spanish immersion tour in Costa Rica, and it was just amazing. Kind of a life-changing event. It got me out of my comfort zone of speaking. Count yourself lucky if you go to the next one. ¡Pura vida!"
"It was an amazing group of people, none of whom I knew before I came on the trip, and now they all feel like family. I felt a lot of things that I never ever would have done without this opportunity."
"It's one thing to study Spanish in the classroom, but to actually go out there to the source is another. I was able to hear Spanish from a native speaker's mouth, and actually surprised myself by really being able to understand what they were saying."
